On Saturday, August 10, 2024, the Minecraft server of El Servidor was upgraded to version 1.21. With most server-side items renewed or replaced, a new logo was needed to symbolize the monumental transformation.

GPT-4o generated nine logos, and UnlegitCpvp, one of the most active members, submitted a custom option. The ten logos are listed below, in order of creation:

A vote via Tencent Surveys was then started. Each member may vote multiple times, and each vote may contain multiple logos. The vote closed on midnight of the same day, and 33 valid ballots were collected. The raw results are as follows:

According to those results, the “North Korean” logo won by a large margin of 21 percent. However, irregularities in the results were soon spotted by server members, the most significant of which was the discrepancy between the total number of members and the total amount of votes.

An argument erupted in the group chat, and furious members exclaimed that the vote was rigged and that a recount was needed. An investigation into the raw data was launched by T.S. Stiffens, who was befuddled by the voter data.

There were three sets of identical IPs, namely:

• 116.227.57.193 (Jingan, Shanghai), who cast eight ballots, all of which were for “North Korean”
• 15.204.8.235 (Washington County, Oregon), who cast eleven ballots, all of which seemed to be randomized
• 240e:478:e09:768:2108:4c38:4d8c:77b1 (Nanjing, Jiangsu), who cast six ballots, all of which contained “Neon”, with a singular ballot also containing “North Korea”

After a private discussion between founding members of the server, it was decided that only the first of each IP’s vote would be counted. As such, 22 invalid ballots were removed, resulting in a final cleaned result consisting of 11 ballots. The results are as follows:

Although the results were still surprising, “North Korean” remained the winner with a slimmer margin of four percent.
